“ Greek Folklore Puzzle”

Four different pieces and four different colours form The Mati. With a tradition that is lost in the depths of the centuries, the amulets that represent a blue eye are one of the most iconic symbols that someone can meet in Greece. Unique in aesthetics and with very vivid colours, the Mati puzzle consists of four imperfect concentric circles and is a very unique interactive decorative item.

A DROP OF KNOWLEDGE

Bad eye or “baskania” is the belief that it is possible for a person to be negatively affected by the envy of another person. In many areas of Greece where there are not many people with light-colored eyes, it is considered that light-colored eyes can give you the Mati easier. It was also believed that children were more vulnerable to the Mati.
