Why Weaning Is Important
Why is important to start weaning?
Starting your little one on the road to solid foods is important in their development as they grow. Weaning or complementary feeding should start around 6 months for the finger food and purees.
The reason for this is that the food your little one eats is starting to matter more and more as it comes the main source of nutrition. Vitamin D for example is often lacking in diets before this time.
Giving your baby a variety of foods, alongside breast or formula milk, from around 6 months of age will help set your child up for a lifetime of healthier eating.
There are many tips and tricks to what to try first with your little one to help find out about allergies.
If your baby was born prematurely, ask your health visitor or GP for advice on when to start introducing solid foods.
