Why Is 6 months the time to introduce solids?

The magic number is 6 for weaning your little one onto solid foods. There are a number of reasons for this and also a nice milestone too.

Firstly your formula or breast milk is all your baby has needed for growing but now its going to go to the next level and requirements are growing too.

It's important to note that the formula or breast milk doesn't have to be finished now but accompany your babies diet.

Around 6 months (give or take) has given your baby enough time to grow to be able to self feed with soft food and purees. Their control from their hands to mouths is better.

This may mean they'll be able to progress to a range of tastes and textures (such as mashed, lumpy and finger foods) more quickly, and may not need smooth, blended foods at all
